Default Olde style tube marking

This is another of the murky past methods for marking a tube to either cut or lay on a strip of plastic, etc. Take about a 2" long offcut of the size BT you are to be working with. Square up the ends as close to parallel as possible and then clean up the ends so that they are nice and smooth. Using scissors cut along the length of the scrap BT. Slide the template down the tube to be cut and align the edge as close as visually possibly. The template will be short by some degree - a BT-60 is about an 1/8th of an inch.

This will serve as a marking guide for the cut line or to attach a circumferential band or splice band. If you want a more permanent template you caould use 1/16th sheet brass and roll it smaller - just make sure that it stays square.
