I cloned a Farside X a few years ago for NARAM 54 and finished it like the one on the back cover of the '66 and'67 Estes catalogs.
http://www.ninfinger.org/rockets/ca...s66/66estb.html I had asked SEMROC about having basswood fins cut and Carl sent me a set. I was unable to attend, so I don't recall what the Pod Bay Doors flew it on, but it flew successfully and won Team division thanks to the mission points for stages. I did not cant the first stage fins. Chas

Come on, O.G., put one of those things in your most prized Sprint. We live once. Chas, that one is beautiful! I can certainly see using that paint scheme on one in the future.

My Astron Sprint has flown more on the B14-7 than any other motor.
A close second is the C6-7...always get it back too. It has flown on an Aerotech D10 to an insane height once. Winds were nil. Landed within 100' of my backyard launch pad.

GH - I would have liked to have seen that D10 flight. I bet, even with a streamer, it took a good while to come down.

It takes quite a while to come down from the C6-7 let alone the D10.
It went well over 3000' on the D10. A 12" rocket at 3K' is not visible. Didn't even see the streamer until it was below 2k'

Translation: A large field, calm air (even with a streamer), and several sets of young eyes are highly recommended for successful recovery.
