I built one of the two I got from AC Supply and have really been enjoying flying it. I have 15 flights so far in various combinations of single stage and two-stage with and without the glider.
The big payload section is nice and the glider flies surprisingly well. Mine circles fairly tightly, but when flying it on a B to B two-stage flight that's a GOOD thing. I haven't flown it C to C yet (with or without the glider). Maybe without the glider at NARAM. Interestingly it flies about as high B to B as it does single stage on a C, with the single stage configuration having a slight edge (using data I have so far). Putting the glider on costs about 20% in boost altitude. Lots of ways to fly it and it works well. I like it!

Bernard,
Looks nice. Your glider looks grain-free in the picture. Did you fill the grain on your glider? I don’t fly competition so I usually do a fill coat or two so a light paint coat or even markers look pretty decent. 5x7, I forgot to add earlier — if you really want a 50X nose cone, eRockets has them for $4.79.

Lee, I did a fairly minimal filling on the glider and I think I only sprayed the color coats, no primer. It would be colored with Sharpies if it were a competition glider, but of course it's not. I would at least want to enlarge the turn circle some if it were...

Thanks, I have a Semroc BNC version for a constellation or sprint but was hiding out for a plastic reissue. It was used on so few models I suspect the mold was damaged. |
