PROUDLY BANNED from that POS site about 10 years ago. It was awful then and has became a total dirtbag cesspool.

As for TRF, it was created with lots of support from the powers-that-be at NAR. They wanted a moderated forum that was free of the crap going on elsewhere, primarily r.m.r. But in recent years, my take is that the NAR has put its recruiting and PR efforts into Facebook and left TRF to itself. But I could be wrong. For sure, I've spent 0 time there in recent years, so I don't have a feel for it anymore. But that last couple times I looked in there, it seemed kinda slow compared to earlier times. Doug .

From what I've seen, it's very slow except for the watering hole subforum and HPR stuff strewn across most of the other subforums.

I may not go to your site anymore and I appreciate that you are there. I went on rmr as my first foray into the internet in ~1992. I went on Rocketry Online as well. I used to publish a physical magazine and have contributed to the others. My main contribution to consumer rocketry is actually outreach to kids in elementary schools (>8000) and hosting launches at Lucerne (>20,000) with the peak launch about 4k. I have promulgated (invented) Large model rocketry, High power rocketry, FAA exemption expansion, reloadable motors (1-90), CERTIFIED sparkies (FS), and ultra fast propellant (BK), oh and let's not forget nozzleless motors. Oops. I may not attend every site or blog but tend to focus my output on the most notable site at the moment. The ROL disclosure of the FBI "keystone cops" was well beyond amusing and factual. They were shooting Errortech motors from a van to simulate terrorist attacks and had blow by, and had to evac on an emergency basis. One member of ROL was privy to the video but could not disclose it. Also could not stop laughing. Those were the days! I'm not tired of winning. I had no inkling the NAR ever had anything to do with TRF. ? Is that your opinion or factual ?

I personally had absolutely 0% involvement in TRF other than to post there. I'm pretty confident that NAR Board members with whom I was familiar were also not involved, again other than to post.

Yes. "Powers that be" at the NAR are hobbyists too, who may, or may not, like to participate in Internet rocketry forums. The NAR didn't have an official forum until the creation of the NAR Facebook page, which is very active right now. As for TRF, I am not really big into HPR and sparky motors so I don't really fit in over there. There are some pretty abusive trolls with huge post counts over there that seem to get away with anything, so that's just the icing on the cake. I seldom even look over there.

Furthermore, weren't some of the moderators prominent NAR members? That said, to be clear, I'm not being critical of anyone's involvement there. I still believe in your mantra of paying it forward, and I see the web - forums in particular - as being a great channel for doing that. BR, Doug .
