Default 50 Years Ago Today

On March 2, 1969, Estes Industries held their Open House, showing off their newly expanded operation to visitors. 1969 was a watershed year for Estes. Sales grew rapidly, and within a year Estes had sold out to the Damon Corporation. Those were great times for Estes and Estes fans alike! Congratulations to Vern and Gleda Estes for their vision, and for their efforts to make the hobby of model rocketry safe and so appealing to countless American (and some Canadian, like me) youth.

Check out the photos of the very rare Estes Open House Invitation and Handout at Eric Higgins' website...........

Doers anyone know if Eric is still actively maintaining his site? I set him an email last week, but haven't heard back.

I think Eric is busy with other things at this time. I know he still browses the post here, and also posts from time to time.
