Does anyone make an exact copy of the BNC-80K nose cone that was in the Maxi Alpha (#1291) Kit?

Check these patterns from SEMROC, and match it to the PNC from the kit. Carl has at least three shapes that are upscales of various PNC-50K shapes.

Semroc's BNC-80K is the copy of the longer plastic PNC-80 nose cone (from the V2, Phoenix, Maxi Alpha, Optima, Goliath, etc).

Their BNC-80KA is a proper copy of the original BNC-50K, while the BNC-80KP is more rounded like the Alpha III's nose cone, but doesn't appear to be an exact match.

You question is a little confusing; the Maxi Alpha #1291 always had a PNC-80K (plastic) nose cone (http://www.ninfinger.org/rockets/no.../77est040.html).

Craig's suggestion of the Semroc BNC-80K is a good suggestion, but you can always "borrow" a PNC-80K from another kit (http://www.rocketshoppe.com/info/Es...erence_10.1.pdf , page 38), or, I believe, the PNC-80K (or something very like it) is available from Red Arrow Hobbies as I recall.

I might have one, but, it's packed away and the temps are not good for looking right now.

If you are wanting to clone the Maxi Alpha, you can always kitbash an Executioner into one. Just have to replace the fins (you can even make the Maxi Alpha fins TTW since the Executioner has slotted tubes).

I meant to type PNC-80K not "BNC". Yes I'm after the exact one that came in the original #1291 kit. I'd prefer not to use a balsa re-production unless there is no other option.

Estes only lists a single BT-80 nose cone in their current catalog and I presumed it is the longer (V-2) version, not the one I need.

Edit: OK, now I'm confused... According to the nose cone reference chart the PNC-80K was used on the V-2. I have a BT-80 plastic nose cone, but it's definitely longer that the one that came in the original Maxi-Alpha. So now I'm wondering if the current BT-80 nose cone in the catalog is indeed the correct one. Wish they still had the dimension chart.

Estes has/had only two plastic BT-80 based nosecones that I can think of. The PNC-80K was used for the Phoenix, the mid sized V-2 (Estes produced 3 different sized kits), Optima, Shadow, Colossus, Maxi Alpha III, and possibly a few more that slip my mind. The other is the PNC-80BB which was used on the Super Big Bertha and Broadsword.

Estes did have another nosecone for their Pro Series Impulse and Maxi-Force kits. The 2.5 heavy wall tubing used nosecones that were a little longer and more pointy tipped than the PNC-80K. That was in the early 90's so I doubt Estes still has any laying around.

I seem to only rmember two different plastic BT-80 nose cones:

Longer one used on Maxi Alpha and all other similar kits (Maxi Alpha, Maxi Alpha 3, Colossus, Phoenix Missile, Jayhawk.

Short rounded version used on Super Big Bertha and Broadsword and Fat Boy.
