The vertical tail is sized correct for the wing, I kept the horizontal tail small so it wouldn't overpower the elevons, I didn't want to run a full sized t tail control because it would mean too much tail weight.

Nice job modeling the Voodoo. Just curious why you didn't make the vertical and horizontal tails bigger? (they are in the right place, at the back end, to add stability!)

I wanna know why you keep landing your Voodoo and Thud with the gear UP ??
Kinda hard on the airframes isn't it ???

Those are 24mm e6 rc reload motors
It's hard to tell altitude when my daughter zooms in but I put altimeters on them and the boost is over 500 feet

I do a kit of the interceptor also using the cosmic interceptor parts, you can look and see my wing for ideas, I've used the interceptor e parts to make one but the tail and wingtip plastic parts add an extra ounce in the tail so 2 oz overall including noseweight, my way is much lighter.

I still have an Estes "Interceptor E" kit to build. This video has convinced me I may have to greatly increase the wing area on that thing to make it R/C glide recovery instead of with a chute.

Picked up another spare cosmic interceptor and used some spare foam bits to see if I could make something starfighter-ish. While still having a light enough weight and wing loading.
I tried to trim the tail of the body tube to have the right look and allow me to tuck the motor more forward to help CG. It also helps the tail look a bit boat-tailed from the side. The wings/tail/stab are closely sized relative to each other but the body is obviously skinny. Again, it's a representation. I made some intake plates to mimick the engine intakes. 10 7/8 ounces ready to fly, if the CG is correct for flight, no nose weight was needed.

I did mount the elevator servo on the underside of the t tail for simplicity and strength and not have to do any funky flex pushrod setup and route it to a servo which would have meant making the tail thicker to hide it etc. The wing was moved back about an inch to help avoid nose weight, think it turned out ok. Will probably leave the bottom white and just pain the top half gray and do a german navy scheme...

It was 94 out with 13mph gusts, but the starfighter handled it well. Since I mounted the motor forward and on the bottom of the body tube to allow clearance for the T tail mounting tab, I expected to have to have some down trim, and yes, it needed a bit more than I had programmed in, it also was a bit twitchy, so I added 1/4 ounce of nose weight and reduced elevator throws. Glide trim was perfect and even in the wind it handled it great and the glide was much better than I expected. It's earned some color now...
