Default Nike Ajax

Someone asked me to make them some cloned parts for the Estes Nike Ajax.

Not being happy with the plans from Estes I just had to upgrade them to be a bit closer to scale.

In order to be more acurate the sustainer body needs to be a T-20+ body tube (0.785" O.D.)

In my drawings I only show it to be 0.78" but that's because I only used 1/100th" as my scale precision in the drawing.

Look for error...I can take it.

Coincidentally...this is the same scale as my Nike Hercules.

The pdf drawing is scaled to fit am 11" x 14" sheet.

OK, nobody is perfect!

I found a big flaw in the size of the sustainer tube.

My original drawing made it way too small. It should actually be 1.07" which is close to a SEMROC ST-10 (1.04").

But to make it easier is used a BT-50 like the original Estes size for the sustainer.

I can adjust it if anybody want it to fit the SEMROC tube.

If the conduits were made from laser cut basswood, that would save a lot of sanding and get a more "natural curve" when applying to the BT and nose cone. Well they could be made out of anything that laser cuts. The fins definite basswood. I used much ca on the TLP I built to firm up the fins. Just a suggestion.

For my TLP Nike Ajax kit I set up a rip fence jig and cut the conduit from 1/4" balsa stock.

Almost no sanding with that technique!
