Talking Alan Parsons Project -- 2005 Interview by "Goldmine"

For those of us interested in 1970's and 80's synthesizer rock (and whoever engineered the Beatle's "Abbey Road" and Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon"):

I downloaded some Alan Parsons Project songs from Rhapsody last night (4 out of 5 were hacked off before the end, so I just sent a note for help to the folks at Real.com), and came across this article tonight.

http://www.alanparsonsmusic.com/interviews.php

Now I'm going to sit back and watch Craig tell me I need to get a copy of "A Valid Path."

The 2-disc version of "The Essential APP" is available from the website above for $25, and the "Expanded" version of "I Robot" sounds interesting, too.

Submitted for your consideration,

One day I'll score a copy of 'Freudiana'...

Thanks for the link; It was an interesting read. I didn't realize AP was involved with 'Atom Heart Mother'.

Jay, do you subscribe to Goldmine? I was reading an interview with Tom Scholz today and I was going to send the issue your way this week. Let me know. Also, if you do want copies of any Alan Parsons stuff, let me know and I'll burn them for you. I've got everything from after Tales of Mystery and Imagination (Pyramid or I Robot) to Stereotomy.

And I have Tales of Mystery and Imagination, so the same offer holds for that one.

I don't, but I managed to track down the Tom Scholz article through a BOSTON fan website ( http://www.thirdstage.ca ).

Nope. I didn't even know they'd remastered them. Mine are the original versions that I bought in 1985 or 1986. They were some of the first CDs I bought. Which ones have they remastered? I could only find one with extra tracks. Eve was always a favorite. First time I heard it was in the Conehead's 1970 Nova on 8-track. I've since owned it on cassette, vinyl and CD.

I've converted all mine to mp3......guess I need to put them on a mp3 player and "rediscover" them.

Re: Alan Parsons' Project

DUH! A Pyramid, obviously.
(Nothing funnier than a good Alan Parsons "in-joke", eh?)

[sigh]If only I were musically astute enough to get it About all I know is that the "Alan Parsons Project" is a musical act. And I'm sure I've heard 'em on the radio over the years, but alas, I can't name any songs. And if Alan Parsons walked in the door, I wouldn't know him from Dickie Parsons

Doug...musically unsophisticated, please play more Skynyrd and Molly Hatchet...
