Antares 230 flew!
Hello All,
Tonight (see the videos here: http://spaceflightnow.com/2016/10/1...th-new-engines/ ) Orbital ATK’s improved Antares 230 rocket sent a Cygnus cargo spaceship toward the International Space Station from Wallops Island, Virginia, two years after the last Antares fell back onto its launch pad and exploded due to a faulty surplus Russian AJ26 (NK-33) rocket engine, which had been built over 40 years ago to power the ill-fated Soviet N-1 Moon rocket. Instead of two AJ26s, the Antares 230 uses new Russian RD-181 engines in its first stage, and a solid propellant Castor 30XL second stage. The flight sequence is shown here: http://spaceflightnow.com/2016/10/1...climb-to-orbit/ .
