Kurt Busch's Indy-Charlotte double
Kurt Busch is doing double-duty on Sunday. Not only is he racing in the legendary Indianapolis 500, then he's jumping on a plane, and will be whisked to Charlotte in time to compete in NASCAR's longest race of the year, the Coca-Cola 600. He is facing 1,100 miles of racing in one day.
Anybody watching?

Oh, yes. He's already torn up his primary Indycar by overcorrecting himself into the wall. He freely admitted he made a NASCAR mistake, meaning he used excessive input to try to correct his impending spin. He's lucky to walk away from it as easily as he did, too.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZmaxuH-4WRc Man, that looked like it hurt! Glad he's OK. I've been hunting with him several times when he used to come to Columbia with his then motorhome driver, who is a friend of my brother's. I hope he can fix the car and start 12th where he qualified; otherwise, he will have to start at the back with a backup car. Allen |

Racing...meh
All I know is that the Coca-Cola 600 is making it very difficult to find a hotel, so that I can attend my niece's graduation from Johnson and Wales on Saturday.

Have you tried Rock Hill or Lancaster, SC, Lawrence?
Might have a small drive, but either place might be able to accommodate? I'm sure you've thought of them, though... Missed you at the launch last weekend... Allen |

I will be watching his Indy 500 run from J stand and will follow the 600 on the radio on the drive home. Nothing but respect from me for any racer who's dream it is to race in the Indianapolis 500.
He is in a Michael Andretti car for the 500 and a Stewart-Haas car for the 600, so he is not lacking for equipment. Kurt has come a long way from the day when Jimmy Spencer straightened his nose up for him. |

Allen[/QUOTE] He will go to a backup car but will retain the 12th starting position. This rule was changed when they went to the fast 9 qualifying format (no one would risk the car in qualifying if they had to start in the back on race day) |

I believe Kurt was NASCAR Champion the year after that (or was it before? Memory is going). He's still pretty much a toothpick and a bonehead, but he's still my #1 driver. He's such an ****ole that I can't help but like him, that and he's not afraid to take a chance. I think he gets a bad rap a lot of times. I do notice his after race interviews have gotten really PC these days. Somebody must have gotten through to him. Kurt pushing Newman to the win at Talladega was classic.

I would have preferred that Kurt Busch kick the livin' snot out of that loudmouth clown lousy-driver Jimmy Spencer. That bozo is full of more fecal matter than a cattle ranch during brandin' season.
