Default Boeing 747 History Today

Boeing 747 History Today

The 747 received its FAA airworthiness certificate in December 2, 1969, clearing it for introduction into service. Although this site does not give the day, today is that day.
The Boeing 747 jumbo jet got its first public preview as 191 people, most of them reporters and photographers, flew from Seattle to New York City.

Now, does any one remember 'Cheerios' offering a model plane kit for free? You paid shipping. I don't remember what the amount was but what was funny about that was you could buy the model kit locally for less.
