Finally! I got my boat ready for the water!
I finally had some time to do this.
I replaced the transom last fall, but today I had to blow the leaves out and get rid of a winter's worth of balsa dust, so I cleaned her off. I'm retired and sometimes I just want to go fishing. Tomorrow, I need to replace the stripe and tighten the gunwale bumper. 5 minutes! OK maybe 15 min. Not bad for a fishin' boat In the background is my BIL's sailboat I built. It need some "work". Oh, and in the fist picture, behind the boat, that's Chopper the wonder dog.

I just bought a Kevlar Mad River canoe from the mid-1970s. It has gunwale rot (ash gunwales) and I got it for 20 bux. Now, to find some 20' long clear ash. Prolly joint it and may go away from ash. saw a nice piece of cherry at the lumber yard.
Nice Boats, Gordy! |

Sweet lines on that launch, Gordy. I like that you went traditional, using cordage for the rub rail. The final touch that completes the asthetic. Is she a "Whitehall?" Quite similar, if not. Lovely. How long did it take you to build her?
I say that I like to fish, but really, I just want to be out on the water. Catching a fish sometimes just disrupts my idyll. If I do catch a rockfish ("striper" everywhere else), I'm always tempted to throw it back, they're so pretty. They're also my favorite eating fish, so I will keep one for me and the missus, then just bag it and have fun relaxing, letting my mind drift with the tide. Funny thing about being on the water--I rarely, only if made to, think about anything on land. Perhaps that's why I love boats and salt water. Any body of water for that matter.

This isn't the same boat that you posted pictures of a few years ago, is it?
The boat in the garage doesn't look like the boat I remember. Beautiful boat, BTW....worthy of being posted in Wooden Boat magazine without a doubt.

Yes, it is but it spent quite a bit of time on the beach so it's been worked on a bit. New transom, fresh varnish, etc... Actually I have two boats (doesn't everybody?). My other boat is a cat rig sail boat.

Two boats? If I were you, I'd buy the missus some flowers. She's a keeper.
