Alternate Flying Stovepipe Booster
The scout-like booster in the old Flying Stovepipe annular wing glider model never worked for me - the engine always blasted past the engine hook and the booster never disengaged.
So I built a different booster based on the sliding wing Ringhawk design. The fin can is pulled forward by an elastic band at ejection to pitch the glider over the nose of the booster. The fins have tabs to provide spin. Lastly, it's a rear ejection design. This isn't my prettiest build, as I was winging it - and shouldn't have painted the length of the booster. Haven't launched it yet - but it's ready to try. |

If Estes is still holding their DOM (Design Of the Month) contest, why not enter? It would also be a unique design for Barclone. A possible variation (for purely aesthetic reasons) could use a Centuri Groove Tube-like cluster of stabilizing tubes instead of planar fins on the booster. Two, three, or four of the tube fins could have "stub fins" fitted with dowel hooks to engage the tube glider, if necessary.
