2X Mars Lander - parts help?
Hi everyone,
a few months ago, I set out on an adventure to build a 2x Mars Lander. This has been a real learning experience as I'm doing from scratch. I learned after I started that this is a pretty popular kit to supersize - there's even some kits. But, since I had already started the scratch build, I was committed to finishing. I have all of the parts, except the extra long 1/4 inch launch lug. Does anyone know where I can acquire? It needs to be 16.5 inches long. I appreciate any help. Don. |

Can't you roll your own? Stout paper around a dowel, some epoxy to stiffen things up further?

Balsa Machining Services. See attached.
Bill's idea should work, too.....and be less expensive.

Styrene tube from the local hobby shop would have been my first thought.

Thanks everyone, some excellent ideas. I think I'll try the paper first, if that's a bust, I'll try the link. appreciate the feedback.

Aluminum tube from your local hardware store might fit the bill as well.

I use cheap aluminum arrow shafts for my 1/4" lugs. Hit the area that will be glued with a file or coarse sandpaper to knock off the clear coat and rough it up. Use epoxy. No spirals, no paint prep.
