I have purchased several items from this seller the past 5-6 years, mainly Centuri related items. Items have always been properly represented and each transaction has been very smooth. From the items they have listed they seem to be a long time collector who may finally be liquidating their holdings, but that is just a guess on my part. This is the third one of these that I have ever seen on eBay. The first, about 5-6 years ago or so I think went for about $750. The second one, about three years ago went for about $950. So, maybe somewhere between $750-$1000 would be probably a good ballpark, though I realize not everyone would want to 'play' in that 'ballpark'. Earl

Jeff, I don't think $1500 is out of line for some versions of the MMI Aerobee Hi starter kit. But the version being offered is a 001-B-645 kit. That was the third version of the kit. The first version was the 001-A. It had a preprinted price on the box, $7.95. Inside it included a box of 6 motors, made by Brown Manufacturing. Second version was the 001-B. It, too, had a printed price, but the price had dropped to $6.45. That kit included only 3 motors, which is the reason for the price drop. The early versions had Brown motors but then Vern started producing the motors with real nozzles. They used the same box for the motors but they hand scratched out the words "Patent Pending." Third version of the kit was the one being offered. Still has a white circle for the price but no pre-printed price. Kit came with 3 Estes produced Rock-A-Chute motors. Other than that the kit was the same as the original. The actual kit being offered is in outstanding shape. The box does not have the usual bend in the middle. The kits came from the manufacturer taped closed in two spots. You can see the tape marks on the one being offered but they are barely visible. I agree with the seller that the box is in better shape than the one in the Smithsonian. Inside the kit everything looks untouched. Blast deflector is unusually clean and free of rust. Launch rod looks rusted, which is not unusual. But $1500? Not a bad place for the seller to start. Considering that it's version 3, that he's willing to include and ship the motors, and that it's in truly outstanding shape, I'd say $1000+. Contrary to the naysayers here, it's definitely the most historically important of model rocket kits. Only comes up on eBay every few years or so. You're not likely to see any edition in better shape. So I don't think it's out of line to ask $1500 and "make offer." Steve |

As for other mentionables recently, the other large sale has two VERY rare kits. The NCR Black Hole Betty and the Shadow Aero Sprint. Don't think I've ever seen either for sale before. Although I thought it pretty funny that someone else listed a Black Hole Betty right after the first. Don't really have a good feel for the value of either kit.

My favorite is the guy, "....rocks", who reposts the same @#$% every Sunday evening for open, and non-opened kits at just plain stupid prices, knowing eventually someone will bite.
