In my opinion, as 4.5 in of the motor mount tube, extend out the back of the "Drive" assy. 8 in is too short. To allow for ducting 12in is too long, but I think you need to supply that length and let the builder shorten it to 10, or in my case 9in length.

Agree!. I shortened mine, but the 8" would have been too short. Let the builder cut to desired length.

So give 12 recommend 9 then. Thanks all.

Kit guys always try to give parts that are net shape and length. But for a "builders kit" like this, I am willing to compromise on a couple parts. Cutting one tube shorter is fine. Sanding a couple nose cones to offset the lack of availabiltiy of true shape cones is a fair compromise.

Just a quick update, on my Trident, With all the shutdowns, was finally able to get out today and fly it, on a single use Aerotech G74-4. Flew great, and the ducting worked without issue.

I would imagine a G74-4 would turn in a great flight on this unique US Rockets upscale. Well done 👍🏻
Did you get any flight pics?

Not a very good one, a short Phone Video, I was not zoomed in, too far away. But can not post videos here. So here is a frame grab and crop from the video.

Looks like that G74 got it moving pretty quickly off the rod. Very nice.

Just an update, have about 4 Flights on my Trident now, and am having to replace the motor mount. The way it hangs out the back, standard 29mm tubing is crimping and not able to hold up to the stress, it either needs glassed, or soaked in CA. In its place I am using LOC, 29mm Phenolic tubing, it is sturdier, and I think will hold up better.

Good to know about the motor tube.
I'm looking into possibly getting one of his Enerjet Athena upscales, which also has the motor tube hanging out.
