Default Shameless Self-Promotion ... and a Story

One of the items we have listed on eBay right now is a Monogram First Lunar Landing plastic model kit.

I almost didn't list this kit because it brought back memories.

I built one of these kits back in the early 1970s. At the time, my father worked in the Chief of Maintenance's office at Eglin AFB. The office was in a multi-story building near the runway. The office was equipped a black and white video camera that could be panned to look at the flight line. The camera was mounted on the roof of the building. which was covered with stones.

When the camera panned or tilted so that it pointed at the roof, it looked like a black and white image from the lunar landings, Our TV was B&W until the late 1970s, so all the moon landings were in B&W for us!

Dad borrowed my assembled Lunar Landing kit and, early one morning, placed it on the roof in view of the camera. Then he took a toy octopus and draped it over the Lunar Module. Back in the office, someone panned the camera and caught a view of astronauts on the moon being attacked by a giant monster! :-)

Thats a funny story Roger, thanks for sharing.
You have quite the collection of OOP kits listed. Is this from a personal collection?

We bought some rocketry stuff for a local person who is moving. His collection also included some plastic model kits such as the one mentioned above.

A few things from my person collection, however, might show up. But, not many.
