If the clear plastic blister is partially-unbonded enough to slide the Banshee rocket out (it looks like it might be), could you measure its fins (their edge lengths, angles, and thicknesses), body tube length, body tube diameter (it may be 0.976" or 1.00"), and nose cone length? Also, could you confirm whether the ogive nose cone comes to a sharp point as shown in the catalog illustrations? (The Banshee appears to be the rare member of the Estes Firing Line trio of itself, the Vampire, and the X-15.) That along with a scaled photograph (with a ruler included in the image) would enable the Banshee and its decal to be cloned, which would make a good addition to Ye Olde Rocket Plans.

The blister packaging, as it is, will not allow removal of the rocket without further damaging the packaging. I have stated in the EBay listing "The rocket and parts on the card have never been removed from the blister packaging. This item is sold as is as you see it in the pictures." and it is not a good idea to change the condition of a listed item.

A good source of documentation is already right in front of you; the drawing on the card. I used a pair of calipers and measured the body diameter at .80" and that compares favorably with the drawing. Use the drawing with the scale key being a body diameter of .80".

I cannot accurately measure the length through the blister, but I can tell that it is similar to the drawing. The nose cone comes to a .03 radius at the tip and that is on the drawing. The fins in the drawing are at 45 degrees to the view and you can project to get the plan view size. The fins are .076 thick against the BT and .03 thick at the tip.

If you need more than that, the best way for you to get perfect documentation on this rocket is to be the winning bidder on Sunday December 19, 2010.

Being financially tapped out until January, winning it isn't in the cards for me, but I appreciate the scale data you posted above.

Thank you very much, Scott! I've let Ltvscout know (with acknowledgement to you) about your above-posted scale data so that it can be made available to everyone on Ye Olde Rocket Plans. The Banshee's nose cone is a 4.111... (endlessly repeating decimal) to 1 ogive, so Starlight Model Rockets' 3" long PNC7D nose cone (which is a 4.076 to 1 ogive) would be perfect for a very slightly down-scaled (0.736" versus 0.810" diameter, as their BT7 tubing is the same size as Estes BT-20 tubing) clone of the Banshee.

I've moved this into it's own thread since it was off-topic in Richard's post.

Whew! When I clicked on Richard's sale thread and the Banshee documentation was gone, I felt like Winston Smith when he came in to work one morning and Syme had vanished... :-) Thank you for giving it its own thread.
