Default 7 year old girl survives plane crash

7 year old girl survives plane crash in KY.

EDDYVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Federal authorities have arrived at the scene of a Kentucky plane crash that a 7-year-old girl survived after it killed four members of her family.

Kentucky State Police Sgt. Dean Patterson says Federal Aviation Administration officials have arrived, and investigators with the National Transportation Safety board also were expected to get to the scene on Saturday.

The FAA says a small Piper PA-34 reported engine trouble and lost contact with air traffic controllers as it was flying over the southwestern part of Kentucky late Friday afternoon.

About a half hour later, a Lyon County resident called 911 and told dispatchers that a 7-year-old girl had walked to his home and said she had been involved in a plane crash.

The girl has been released from a hospital.

She's lucky in more ways than one. Eddyville is right on the northern tip of The Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area. If the plane's path was just a few miles west, it could have crashed in the LBL area, which doesn't have many people on it in the winter except for hunters. If they didn't crash near a deer hunter, she might have perished from injury and exposure before being found.

Eddyville is at the point of the right hand lobe of the star.

I hate reading about this stuff cause my wife will be boarding an airliner in a few hours from Detroit to Manchester, NH by way of O'Hare.

Most likely she'll be on a 737 which has one of the best safety records. It has around 800,000,000 flights and an FLE of only 50. Many of those events were with sub-par airlines run by other countries.

Yup, Southwest Air.
They screwed up her last flight back in August and gave her a $100.00 voucher for another flight which she went to see her mother when she had a mild stroke Christmas Eve.

Southwest has the #1 safety record for major US airlines. The smaller AirTran has the best overall. It's just been bought out by Southwest and the last AirTran branded flight was just a few days ago.

It doesn't get much better than a Southwest 737-x00, with the more modern 600-900 series being the best. The bulk of Southwest's planes are 737-700's.

Southwest flies nothing but 737 aircraft.

I have actually flown on most all the major aircraft including the 747 (only first class on 747)
The two I have not flown on are the 787 and A380.
I have flown on all of the present and retired Jumbo-Jets (747, L1011, DC10/MD11, and A340) , except the A380.

Have flown both coach and first (or business) on most all of them as well.
The flight experience on a 747, upper-level, first class is magnitudes beyond anything else.

I did not start flying until the mid-1970's so I missed out on the 4-engined 707's and DC-8's as those were largely retired by then.

The absolute worst aircraft to fly on is the DC-9/MD-80/717.
Those things are skinny and always cramped even in first class.

Yes, there is such a thing as NORMAL
, if you have to ask what is "NORMAL" , you probably aren't !

Failure may not be an OPTION, but it is ALWAYS a POSSIBILITY.
ALL systems are GO for MAYHEM, CHAOS, TURMOIL, FIASCOS, and HAVOC !

Yes, but they fly several different versions, from the 300 on up. The bulk are 700's...over 400 of them. They have a couple hundred new 737-MAX7 and MAX8 planes on order along with a few more 700's and 800's.

Default Amazing Journey to Get Help!

Still amazed by how fast she got to the nearest house! Was she able to see it from the wreck site? How did she know which direction to head if she didn't? Most people walk circles in the woods when lost, sounds like she made a fairly straight trek to get there.

Totally amazing to me!

Smart little girl!

Mike

Whether or not you believe, she had divine intervention. There is no other explanation.
