Kit Bash
In this contest you must choose two classic or current production kits and kit bash them based on standard kit-bash rules! This is the statement in the contest rules. But what are the standard kit bash rules? I have never done this. So where are the rules? Thanks

Ah! I see. Well kit bashing is taking one or more kits and making something other than what the manufacturer intended. Usually, that means you can't add parts or materials except for what comes in package (you could use the packaging- for example instructions make good paper transitions, and hang tags sometimes can make tubes). But, since this is a VIRTUAL contest, I'm not sure how that could be enforced... How can the judges say the balsa fins weren't made from the scrap around the punched out kit parts? Sounds like a good question to ask Todd (aka PunkRocketScience) for clarification. I PM'd him on TRF, since his last YORF login was back in Jan. Hopefully, he'll reply here.

Thanks for the heads up, Brian! Your interpretation is correct. You can use anything that can be documented to have come with the original kits. Bag, instructions, scrap balsa, NAR sign up card... However, you must actually document where the parts come from. I'm willing to give people free rein on how they document any weird parts though. But obviously, if the kit only comes with a 3"x6" piece of die-crushed balsa, you won't be able to document getting three 3"x2" fins out of "scrap" unless you are very creative.... Hopefully this clarifies things a bit. Let me know if you need more info!
