New Trailer!

Last warning, don't see movie trailers if you want to read the book first (and you really REALLY ought read the book first, to double your enjoyment of this story).

Having said that, for those who have read it or are not going to read it before the movie, enjoy the Jimi Hendrix edition of a new trailer for the movie:

BTW - a pic showing Kristen Wiig, playing the character of Annie Montrose, the foul-mouthed NASA P.R. lady.

Agree with George - the trailers both give too much away. I've just finished watching a one-hour conversation between Adam Savage (of Mythbusters) and Andy Weir, the author of the book. Great stuff...and only a couple of spoilers.

I'm actually getting excited about a movie for the first time in awhile.....

Another "viral video", showing the likely reaction around the world to a situation like Mark Watney finds himself in. Including vigils, posters, and well-wishing messages (similar thing happened to an extent during Apollo-13).

That big building with the three pieces of artwork… OMG…. that started to turn the faucet on….

"Bring Him Home"

THe following images make more sense after you see the above video.

I could not resist, I used a screenshot (at the 38 second point from the above video) to make this:

So I can do this:

When I go, I'm taking my iPod Touch with me to display the "Bring Him Home" image before the movie starts. And in case anyone wants to do the same, download the above "Bring Him Home" image to display on your own smart phone or other appropriate device.

Movie opens Oct 2nd, but is showing locally Thursday night the 1st (in 3D). Already have my ticket.

Me too, although I do not even go to see movies that much. But the book blew me away. And I want to see this movie so badly that.... if its' first showing was at midnight 50 miles away.... i'd go. Just missed out on seeing a preview screening this past Monday, had signed up to be notified if there was one. I heard a "ding" in my e-mail a week ago to let me know I had a new message, but I do not usually instantly check my mail. By the time I did, 17 minutes later, and found out what it was, it was too late, the passes were all gone.

Saw it last night as well. Still mulling over some of the changes relative to the book in my head. But as a standalone movie - very good. I will have to go see it at least once or twice more.

Saw it and I have the technical rants. 1 when decelerating to enter earth orbit, why was Hermes engine pointing toward earth. 2 why did the mav capsule have a heat shield ? 3 for Ares 5 why did they use a delta 4 ala eft 1 , instead of spending the cash to show an sls launch.
