Iíve had fin tips break off of Alpha IIIs but Iíve only had whole fins break near the root off of Make-It Take-Its (which seem to be made of a lower grade plastic). I have had a couple of Alpha IIIs with on fin thatís mostly balsa come to club launches, though....

Got an Alpha VI from eRockets yesterday and I had to put it together since I want to fly it at NARAM-60. Hereís a family shot.

The little circle above the 60th anniversary logo is one of the static ports I put in the model. I will be flying it with an altimeter some.

OK, follow my logic: If there was an Alpha IV issued on Estes 40th anniversary, and an Alpha VI issued for their upcoming 60th anniversary, why wasn't there an Alpha V issued on their 50th anniversary? Or did they just not think about it? Seems like a 5-0 should be a big to-do.

If we get to Alpha Centauri, will any of us still be alive?

BTW, good question.

For us old-timers, it would have been cool if the Alpha VI was a balsa/paper kit rather than RTF, but I understand the marketing considerations.

As I recall they were in the throes of getting out from under the Tunick administration and being sold to Hobbico about then. I suspect there was no money.

True....but a shiny Alpha III derivative (that, to my eye, is MUCH prettier than an Alpha IV) is not that bad.....as can be seen in the picture posted above......even if it comes in sideways for some (no, I don't know why).
