Default I foresee a rocket conversion...

Hmmm... Through the Force, things you will see... other places... the future, the past-- old friends long gone...

You must unlearn, what you have learned...

Be mindful...

Saw this in WM yesterday while I was getting a new tire (they generally work better without wires sticking out the side) and thought to myself, "oh, this could be rocket powered"...

RC X-wing fighter (with clear plastic canards) with electric ducted fans...

Thought I'd share...

The force is strong with this one!

Later! OL JR

I think a couple boosters could be strapped between the "X" on the port and starboard sides.
Ignite them via R/C when it is already FLYING HORIZONTALLY (ignoring the mamby-pamby code) to simulate engaging HYPERSPACE. Use of two D21T motors would be awesome as there would be little smoke.

Yes, there is such a thing as NORMAL
, if you have to ask what is "NORMAL" , you probably aren't !

Failure may not be an OPTION, but it is ALWAYS a POSSIBILITY.
ALL systems are GO for MAYHEM, CHAOS, TURMOIL, FIASCOS, and HAVOC !

I was looking at that yesterday. I hinted to the goddess that would make a nice present for me!

I've seen a few videos of the X-Wing and am not impressed. It's sort of underpowered, has poor stability, and is not very controllable.

The guys at Flite Test have a video, they had some trouble and know what they are doing.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mMfszvXvScA

It is flown by using two prop-fans that steer it by differential thrust, no aerodynamic control surfaces. I have had some GOOD Air Hogs models that used differential thrust, but those were optimized to fly, not badly compromised due to the desire for it to look like an X-Wing.

The only likely possible practical way to do rocket power with one of these R/C X-wings would be to use some long rocket like say a Mean Machine and hook it on like a parasite glider, to carry it up. Now, the X-Wing would not be steerable during glide, so if carried up piggyback style it would need to be flown down at low throttle in order to steer.

But even that would assume the X-wing didn't have a structural failure boosted as a piggyback. It's not very strong.

Back to Flite Test…… they eventually did some other stuff with one of them. So watch the video to the end, and then you won't need to repeat any of that.

Like I said, use a couple of D21's as JATO boosters.
Ity'll doo, TRUSTT MEE !
Sometimes, a Lil' Touch-O'-MAYHEM is just riiiiiiiight.
I'd even pay to see one of these heaps boosted HORIZONTALLY with D21's !
Should bee marginally safe enuff...hyuk yuk yuk yuk yukkkkk
