"Still Testing" launch (link)
Hello All,
Rocket Lab’s second Electron launch vehicle (see: https://spaceflightnow.com/2017/11/...nd-launch-site/ ) has been shipped to the company’s New Zealand launch site, where it will undergo several weeks of tests—possibly including an on-pad static test firing of its first stage engines—before it is launched (this time probably with live online coverage). This vehicle, unlike the first, will carry more than a dummy payload mass; onboard will be multiple CubeSats. The first Electron vehicle, called “It’s a Test,” was found to be functioning normally, and it could have reached orbit as planned; subsequent analysis revealed that a third-party piece of tracking equipment had lost track of the rocket, prompting the range safety officer to terminate the flight.
