Apparently Motorola was building TV's in Quincy, Illinois. When they pulled out, it really hurt the town. It took them years to recover. I was calling on that area in the 89-98 time frame. It was booming again, with lots of paging technology driving the biz. Needless to say, not long after, the pager biz took a dump and the town was hurt once again
FWIW, we bought a Motorola Quasar TV around 1971 or 72 - our family's first color TV It had the famous "works in a drawer". All the circuits were solid state - no more tubes except for the picture.
