Oh...(I wasn't very familiar with the kit), but looking at Bill Eichelberger's S.P.E.V. here (see: http://www.rocketreviews.com/bill-e...-spev-2614.html ) just now, I see what you mean (it even has two diameter transitions). In fact, it looks like an Estes Thor-Agena B with an added, larger-diameter booster section below it (I recall reading somewhere--an old issue of "Model Rocket News," I think) that the S.P.E.V. (Spare Parts Elimination Vehicle) resulted after an internal inventory audit revealed that they had huge numbers of parts (a projected 50-year supply of them, in some cases!).
