Ed, nice work on the balsa cones for your pods. I’m a woodturner and while I have almost every power tool in my shop, my greatest enjoyment in the shop is turning wood. I started turning balsa nose cones using my dad’s electric drill clamped to my mom’s kitchen step stool, using the technique shown in a 60s-era Estes catalog. I later used a drill press, which I hated. I just didn’t like the nose-down vertical orientation while turning. Getting a lathe was a game changer.
