Not an issue of the motors at the time. The NARAM release specifically put the front of the motor mount 2.5" from the aft lip. With a 2.75" motor that would give you the .25 overhang. The original and the re-release used two slits in the forward tube to attach the shock cord. You could pick out the thrust ring but you have got far too nice a finish on that to risk knocking around the thrust ring. I guess the question is can you get a slim tool (dental probe or thin spatula up into the thrust ring and delaminate it enough to get it out.

I still think that you have put too much into a quality finish to fight an error. Load your flight motor and swing test to make sure it is stable then fix that and fly.
