On my Aerobee the engine hangs 9/16" pass the BT. The original builder put a thrust ring where the kevlar cord is attached to. If I remember well, the motors when the original kit came out were 2.5" instead of today's 2.75"... if so then it was built according to the original instructions. How one could remove the thrust ring that deep in the rocket? I could saw off .5" off the top of the engine I would use... or I could convert it to mini-motors...
