Was the 12.5" confirmed ? That seems awfully short to me.
That sounds like the correct length of the MX-Missile tube, which was in the same 'era' and used the same fin unit as the Titan II and Gemini Titan kits but was far shorter.

I guess you did not see that I measured it off an old kit that I have built. Measurement was taken from the top of the body tube to the bottom where the fin adapter is glued on. Here are the instructions for the Titan II missile where it list it as 12.75 http://www.estesrockets.com/media/i...18_TITAN_II.pdf
