New Plan -- Andromeda SLS (29mm)
OK, folks...
Here is the larger SLS version of the Andromeda that I hinted at earlier. This one has great performance, and most of the motor selections get safely to speed on a 48" x 1/4" steel rod. Two motors (noted in the list) will need 60" rods.
F62T-6.........884'......Dv 15 FPS
F52-8.........1450'......Dv 9 FPS
F40-7.........1562'......Dv 21 FPS
G38FJ-7.......1786'......Dv 27 FPS......60" rod
G33-7.........1996'......Dv 27 FPS......60" rod
G77R-10.......2138'......Dv 21 FPS
G79W-10.......2217'......Dv 20 FPS
H128W-10......3116'......Dv 25 FPS
3/16" thick aircraft plywood for the fins, and I added 1/4" dowels to the fins on this one both as decoration (I call them armature coils) and as reinforcements. Use this as a pattern for reinforcing the smaller version with 1/8" dowels.
Addendum -- Since there is no way to TTW these fins, you will need to add some reinforcement to the fin-tube joints, such as FG cloth, CF cloth, or a combination of woven cloths. I believe the right reinforcement at the joint will be sufficient to handle the stresses.
Enjoy!
