I recorded something called "Rocketmen" on PBS the other night. It did not seem terribly UK-ish. Lots of really nice NASA footage, but not a great piece of work.
Narration was about on par with a NASA internal production from about 1970. It skipped Skylab, which was actually a very cool series of scientific missions that even included a fairly dramatic repair in space. Never mentioned the Soviets. The entirety of 30 years of Shuttle flights was covered as follows: Columbia's maiden launch, Bruce MacCandless in/on the MMU, Challenger's explosion, and the loss of Columbia. No Hubble. No Shuttle-Mir or ISS missions. Nothing.
Plenty of pretty video, but not all that great.
