ESTES Shadow.

5 Attachment(s)
This kit is great because it is big, but doesn't require any FAA Waivers or Special Certifications to fly. It is also collectible, having been made during the 1990's. It was designed to fly on Estes E15 Motors which are no longer made. However, the Estes D12 and E12 will fly this rocket well. The Aerotech E15 motor would also be a great choice. This kit is in great shape.

You are probably aware the E12 is longer than the E15 was so the builder will need to move the engine block to accommodate.

That will be fun to build.

This kit is the same as the Optima with a different paint scheme.

The Optima came out in 1990 and ran through 1993. The paint scheme was changed in 1994 to the Shadow, which ran a couple more years.

The Shadow is one of my favorite designs. I think it is one of the best looking of Dorfler's designs ... and he created many classic rockets.

Estes recommended flying it on a D12-3. It worked, but the rocket only reached about 150' in altitude. Mine would often suffer minor damage as the parachute had little time to open and wouldn't fully inflate until just a second before the rocket landed.

I discovered Aerotech's E15 composite motors and that made a big difference. The E15 gets The Shadow up to a decent altitude.

The Shadow is a great rocket (and the asking price above is reasonable).

I modified a Shadow many years back as a 4-engine cluster. Here are some pics:

OK, anyone who would like this kit I will knock off the $9.00 shipping.
You pay the $65.00 and I'll pay for the shipping.
Best I can do. Any takers?
