V-2 Camouflage

What is your favorite V-2 color scheme?

MarkB. 09-01-2011 10:33 PM

Chris,

Not to be nit-picky, but there were two different Black and Yellows, four different camos, at least ten variations of Black and White here and in Germany. I voted Black and Yellow as the restored V-2 at White Sands is spectacular. On the other hand, my all-time favorite model rocket (and best flying) is the my black and white Estes BT-80 V-2.

Perhaps you could either expand or clarify the poll?

While I don't have any particular scheme in mind, I was more interested in the color scheme that most of you would choose to paint a V2. Here is a link that expands the different schemes that V2s were painted:

If there is a particular scheme you like, comment on it if you like.

Thanks.

The Splinter camo pattern is my Fav but since it would disappear in the grass I'm going to dress mine in black and white or black and yellow livery.

I like this camo one, but I mostly paint my V2's in the red and white checkerboard.

To be pedantic there were only three camouflage schemes: Gebatikt, Geflammt, and Gezackt (batiked, wavy, and ragged; with batik being a blended edge and the remaining schemes a hard edge). There was also the solid RAL 7009 as time was running out.

Everything else is a roll pattern or conspicuity markings.

Now here's a thread I can really relate to! I've personally built most of the schemes, and oddly enough my fave is the Peenemunde Late Test scheme (green/white). I'm not sure why. Maybe because it looks so "operational".

Hence, left to right: Peenemunde, "Flying Witch", "Jagged", "Pinup Girl":

p.s. Mary hand paints the "Jagged" scheme. What a trooper!

Those look awesome!

Thanks! I scratch-built this White Sands variant since the last time I posted on this thread.

Hence:
