Stealth Build Complete!

Hi All,

Two warm days was all we needed for priming, sanding, priming and top coat painting the STEALTH!!!

We used Rustoleum 2X gray primer, filled any remaining imperfections with wood filler, sanded the whole darn rocket with 320 grit paper and then top coated with flat black 2X primer. Not sure if we'll add any more paint as the flat black primer gave it the "stealth military" finish we were looking for.

Next warms days we will run the ground testing of the DD altimeter and ejection charges.

First flight will be on an I-285R followed hopefully by our L2 attempt on a J425R!!!

Next build is a Hangar 11 4" X-15, kit should arrive this weekend!!!

Cheers,

Matt and Nate

looking good! a suggestion, if this is going to be a 'cert' bird, marking the location of the cp (unobtrusively) would probably be a good idea since one or more people will probably ask you where the cp is.

Ejection Charge Testing

Tested out the Perfect flite CF altimeter and ejection charge!

Loaded 1.5g of FFFFg black powder into the forward payload bay containing the main parachute.

Rear booster bay charge was loaded only with an igniter to ensure continuity and that it would ignite with the altimeter.

Sealed up 2 of 3 AV bay vent holes, applied vacuum and pop!

Here's the video: Stealth Ejection Charge Test

Looking good for first flight next weekend!

First Launch!

Chilly day at the Bong, but two successful launches of the STEALTH!!

First flight was on an I285R with dual deployment. Very nice controlled flight up to 1751 ft.

L2 Certification flight was on a J425R with dual deployment. Straight up into the clouds to 3190 ft. Got a little nervous as we didn't see it come out for a long 10-15 seconds when it was on the drogue.

Here's a link to the video STEALTH Launch

Many thanks to the support from Mark and WOOSH! Special thanks to Rex who is clearly our lucky charm for certification launches.

See you next time!

Matt and Nate
