Toner Reactive Foil on Papilio?

Has anyone here tried using the foil that adheres to laserprint on waterslide decal stock?

While 5S-ing the home 'library', I came across some old Letraset transfer foil, and gave it test. It transferred everywhere, not just the black printing.

There are a couple other brands out there, and I'm wondering if they do any better.

Interesting!

I bought some of this stuff . . . 20 years ago?

I never tried using it on decals.

I might give it a try on label stock decals . . . I don't have any waterslide decal stock.

I ask because I really think my Quinstar needs some gold decals.

To answer my own question: no

I did a second test with the foils from Pulsar Professional FX. No go. They say it's supposed to bind with the plastic in the toner. It binds with the water slide media, too.

I might be able to laser cut a mask - but it takes so much heat and pressure that I wonder if it would kill the media.

Shame, I thought the white 'foil' had potential for color on white on black on clear overprinting.

I tried the Papilio foil stuff on laser decal paper, and it was a mess. The foil stuck to the transfer film even better than the toner. So I guess if you want to make a full sheet of foil decals, running the blank sheet through a laminator might work out, but adding foil to a printed decal was a bust.
