OOP Quest Plans Wanted
I've now received permission from Bill Stine to post OOP Quest plans on Ye Olde Rocket Plans. If anyone has plans/templates/decals of OOP Quest kits, please scan them up and send them to me. If you don't have a scanner, let us know and I'll have Buzz Nau get a hold of you. He can scan your goodies and get the stuff sent back to you promptly.
|
I was wondering about why there wasn't any quest plans. Any I have I'll send to Buzz as I'm sending him some of the missing Estes plans as well.

Excellent. Thanks for the help! |
Is there a kit list anywhere for the Quest kits. I'm pretty sure the few I have are OOP but I want to make sure.
|

I don't have a list, but, you can go to their website here to see all of their current kits. If you have something that's not shown there, it's good to go to send to me. https://shoppingcart.questaerospace...ODELROCKETS&Bc= |
I gotta Space Clipper still in the bag. I will try to scan the outer paper sheath but black on dark grey may not come out well.
|
Turns out the only one I have that isnt still in production is the Apollo. I'll get those to Buzz.
|
It's possible that YORF user rokitflite could come up with such a list.
Or take a look at this two year old and therefore outdated thread from TRF that listed all of the Quest kits at that time, including newly (at that time) OOP kits: http://www.rocketryforum.com/showth...ht=discontinued Here is the list copied from one of my posts in that thread, and wow, that nested scrollbar is kind of cool, yet irritating: Code:
|
If the list John posted is accurate, I have some those OOP kits. As soon as the granddaughter goes home (yes, I'm her playmate when she's here), I'll see if I can get some scans made. Scott....you want me to continue uploading to the FTP site?
|
Quote:
Don, it was accurate but not exhaustively complete 2 years ago. I know it doesn't include kits that went OOP before 2002, and I'm sure there were some of those. Other kits may have gone OOP since then, too. |

I've printed out the list you provided and I'll cross check it against the Quest web site. This is a good starting point. Thanks. |

That would be great, Don. Thanks! |
List Compared to 2006 Catalog
Ok....I compared the list provide by John to the 2006 Quest Catalog. The following kits are no longer listed and I guess can be assumed to be discontinued.....
Aerobee Hi Kit # 1015 Nike-K Kit # 1601 Tracer Kit # 1602 Falcon Kit # 1603 Big Rage Kit # 1605 Lightning Kit # 1606 Nike Smoke Kit # 1607 (there was also an earlier version that wasn't a quick kit) Apollo Kit # 1608 Mirage Kit # 1612 Apex Kit # 1614 Pulsar Kit # 1615 Aries Kit # 1616 Icarus Kit # 2006 HL-20 Lifting Body Kit # 2008 Super Cruiser Kit # 2012 Proteus Kit # 2013 M2Q2 Lifting Body Kit # 3009 X-30 Aerospace Plane Kit # 4001 I know there are probably more that have been discontinued. If in doubt, check the Quest web site catalog. www.questaerospace.com |

It appears a lot of those are the newer Quick Kits. The older versions of them are also OOP, such as the Nike-Smoke, Falcon, Big Rage, etc. The earlier non-quick kits are probably easier to clone, but we'd like all versions of the plans. ;) |
Not a kit but it's Quest!

And very interesting.
I got two of these a few years ago and gave one to JimZ. They were on clearance somewhere and I'm sure it wasn't more than $5. :D OK, I admit...I'm gloating a little. :o |

There's a little shop in my home town up north that actually sells the parts out of the bag  Been wanting to buy the bag but it's got so many pieces out of it now..... :( |
Quote:
Whoa! I never knew they offered a parts pack like that. Cool! |
Quote:
Scott, We all come here to learn stuff...even you! :D |
Quote:
Scott, Check my FTP upload area under "Other Plans"... :D |
Catalogs
Scott....you want catalogs too? I've got 1991, 1994 and one from I don't know when (introduces the micro maxx line up).

Look again now. :) :D |

Thanks, Craig! |

Well, I thought I'd put together a kit list for Quest. Doesn't include any of the micro max, starter sets or bulk packs. Kits that don't appear in the 2006 catalog I've listed as OOP.

Hey Scott, did you get the Space Clipper packet I sent you or should I try to send it again?
|
Quote:
Yup, I sure did. Sorry I forgot to reply that I got them. Don Fent also sent them to me. I'll look at both to see which scans look the best for posting, but will give credit to both of you guys. Thanks for sending them! |

I still have one of those plastic parts packs, opened, but mostly complete. Now if I only had the tubing to go with it ( although BMS does offer the 19mm size) .. anyone have , or know where to get, the 1.37" size tubing ? or if anyone has an MPC / Quest plastic transition from the 29mm to 24mm tube sizes, I'd love to get one for my Martian Patrol :-) ~ AL |
Quote:
I've got one, but I've never been able to find tubes that fit it, so it's opened, but complete. |
plans
so when are the plans going t5o be posted? I habe been wanting to add the space clippter dc-x to my collection od cloning plans. for a while now. I did find a paper one that I am going to convert. but would love to build the quest one.
|
Quote:
Scott will get them posted when he can. You got to realize this is a part time job (even though it probably seems full time ;) ). In the mean time, If you need the plans I can send them to you. This one would be a tough clone because of the paper shroud. |
I understand the wait i waas just woundering thats all. as for the shroud I found a paper model I can scale once I have the plans. i'f your willing to send the plans that would be great. hear is link for the paper model of the dc-x. http://jleslie48.com/dcx/ theirs alot of great stuff their too.

New Plans Posted......
Has anybody noticed that Scott has posted a new plan? Hey, it's a start :D
|
Quote:
You have to start somewhere! ;) I'm hoping to get more added this weekend. I've got a TON of submissions to add. It adds up after over a year of no updates. :D |

Which one? Don't make me spend all day lookin' :D BAR John |

Ah shoot I found it MY BAD :o That's kind of funny just pulled that one out of my pile ( storage box one of six so far ) ;) yesterday BAR John |
Scott,
I have the #3002 Aurora and the #2005 Tomahawk (sounding rocket, not cruise missile) in unopened packages. Do you need these plans? Mark K. |
Quote:
Mark, Thanks. I actually have both of those already from Don Fent. I just don't have them posted yet. I only posted the one Quest plan so far because the others Don sent me had the header scanned in two parts. I had to send them to Buzz to do his magic on them to join the two into one file. I just got the headers back yesterday so plan on trying to post more this weekend. We're having a snowstorm here though which has kept me busy shovelling. |
Quote:
Sorry about the extra work Scott. :o We don't need a shovel down here but if it don't let up soon, we'll need boats  |
