When the post says continued, it is loooong!

If you consistently fly in higher wind (>7mph) it is okay to have the upper lug down a bit from the CG, as much as 50%.

Wow, what a discussion of lug placement! I will have to read it a few more times I think.

That said, I think I now understand why Semroc designs (not repros of Centuri or Estes, but Semroc originals) tend to have one fairly long lug mounted quite low on the model, and also why the Enerjet 1340 fin can (now Eliminator and other Estes designs) with its molded-in launch lug, can work.

But to continue on THAT thread drift - the Eliminator instructions tell one NOT to use that launch lug but instead put one much higher up on the model. When I slapped together the one I originally used as a test mule for AlitmeterThree, I did two lugs pretty much in keeping with that long discussion (by using the one in the fin can and putting another fairly high on the body), and it sure does work well. On my 1340 clone I just use the one in the fin can.

LOL :) Same fundamentals apply to rail buttons, except of course you cannot really do much to reduce the drag of those things...

Later! OL J R :)
