Does anyone know which years Estes and Centuri did NOT produce a catalog? Also I know Estes only released a .pdf catalog for a couple of years.

Don't know of any years that Centuri did not produce a catalog when they existed even under the Damon banner.
Estes did not for a few years in the mid-late 00's.

Here is what I've pieced together so far...

Since 1961, Estes has produced a consumer catalog every calender year with the following exceptions:

1962, 1965, 1999, 2000 - No consumer catalog published

2008, 2009 - No consumer catalog printed, although electronic ( .pdf ) versions of their catalogs were released for these years.

I have no information on Centuri.

If anyone out there can confirm this information, that would be awesome... What would also be nice is if anyone has a complete list of the mid-year catalogs and supplements.

So Estes did at least issue an electronic catalog for 2000.
Do you have a link?

Fred,

Please attach the 2000 and 2001 files to me at scott at rocketshoppe dot com. I'll work on getting them online for others to view. Thanks.

One of my favorite memory lane sites is: http://www.ninfinger.org/rockets/rockets.html
where they have the Century catalogs from 1962-1983 and Estes catalogs from 1960-2003.

The site owner says on-site that he got out of the hobby in 2003 since he got married, but the information is still there which is great. I hope if he ever decides to retire the site he will make arangements with someone to take over the rocket related content... On the other hand he just may decide to get back into the hobby someday, which would probably mean more updates!

I don't believe Centuri published a 'regular' full-line catalog for 1970. They published a 'Christmas' catalog in the fall of 1969 which was numbered as catalog 70-1. But, that catalog did not cover their full line of products and was a larger format size, approximately 8 x 11 or thereabouts.

Their next catalog after that was their 1971 catalog issued in the late summer of 1970. This catalog featured one of their more classic covers, which was an artist's rendering of the newly introduced Orion launching from a field, as viewed from above the launch field with the Orion in the foreground streaking toward the vierwer. That was my very first rocket catalog ever....it even had the MiniMax line still in the catalog along with the newly introduced Enerjet motors ("capable of propelling a well-designed model rocket to 10,000 feet!" was the quote I recall from the Enerjet motor page). To a 9 year old kid, that altitiude seemed incredible!

Thanks to Fred Shecter (special thanks to Buzz McDermott) we now have the Estes 2000 and 2001 catalogs available for viewing. Permanent links will be added to the YORP site when I do the update there. For now, you can view them at these direct links:

Cool!

The 2000 catalog is better for 3 reasons:

1. It is more extensive than the 2001 catalog

2. It has pics of Cox 049 engines

3. It has how you properly pronounce "Estes"

But 2001 saw a lot of new releases, including the MR8 and "The Dude".

Again, thank you Fred, Scott, and Buzz.
