I saw this on youtube and would love to get something similar where all booster's etc. deploy chutes and the shuttle fly's. Anyone know of anything?

I did just get the Estes Air Show kit http://www.ehobbies.com/est1480.html , and it should be cool for the kids, but I am really interested in stepping it up a notch...

George built that Shuttle stack from scratch.

BTW, he's a a world class modeler, competing internationally since the 70's. What he accomplished isn't something that the average modeler will be able to do without considerable experience.

Anyone have experience with Sherri’s Hot Rockets? She has a Space Shuttle that looks pretty darn nice, but when I see the flight in the video it concerns me a bit. You can see the steep glide path of the shuttle upon return and also hear quite the thwack once it lands, so that scares me a bit. Seems weight is a factor with this being more of a controlled fall then a true glide?

Anyway, below is the link. She has a nice Gemini with aluminum nozzles which is cool. Not interested in that now, but it does give me a bit of insight on the quality of the builds anyway… I would love to hear if anyone has this kit…

Sheri's Hot Rockets/CJS Aviation is no more (something about poor service, paid for yet undelivered kits, thongs, he said/she said, I'm a victim, you guys are sexist, I have new tattoo, I'm moving... Lord it goes on and on) they were purchased by Dave at Red Arrow Hobbies.
I've ordered a couple of times from Dave and he's a A+ reliable source in my book, easy to contact and deal with. I don't think he's offering many of Sheri's kits yet, but you can continue your search there.

I seem to remember seeing something about a build of a SHR Shuttle, I think in Sport Rocketry, last year sometime.

I try to find the issue. Of course it could have been here or on TRF, but I really don't recall.

As I recall, it wasn't an easy build and you needed R/C gear as well, so not a project of the faint of heart.

The Estes 1284 Space Shuttle kit, (reviewed at EMRR (http://www.rocketreviews.com/reviews/all/oop_est_space_shuttle.shtml) ), offers a gliding orbiter, but the rest is recovered by parachute.

Cheers,
Jon

Definitly want to start smaller and work up to a full stack with gliding RC shuttle. Maybe start with a Guillows foam shuttle and a non- booster dropping stack.

I think Sheri moved onto another bizznuss venture somewhere either on the left coast or Hawaii.
Sheri's self-serv tatooing and branding emporiums, ink.

A visit to one of those would only be slightly more fun and useful than a trip to Cleveland.
In other words, NO FUN and UseLESS.

It came and went a lot faster than her never ending drama. I don't frequent TRF, but I think that pic was the last straw for her over there.

Is this it?
Ah, come on Gordon, no tattoo couldn't be her. :D

BPRescue: Sorry for this Sheri subject hi-jacking your thread........ For various reasons, that kinda happens around here sometimes

Sorry guys, I saw her in that outfit on an episode of Reno 911 and I never laughed so hard.

My wife was laughing so hard she started to cry.

As for the Shuttle.

Please, wait a bit. I'm working on parts for a few different people and they will be offering kits.

Honestly, I can't say more or who.

That was her avatar that got her banned on TRF...

Started a rather humorous discussion about the appropriateness of certain avatars, which ended up with the inevitable "moon" jokes and culminated in someone photoshopping in a moon lander on her backside, and then a vitriolic verbal tonguethrashing of the male half of the species by Sheri because some folks were having a bit of fun at her expense (which SHE HERSELF started by using the thong avatar, which most folks were pretty sure wasn't her ANYWAY, using the lack of tat's as evidence).

It really was an interesting exercise in discovering the true meaning of the word "SHREW" as it applies to females... fascinating as in that guilty fascination with watching train wrecks and rubbernecking at flashing lights all the time...

Later! OL JR :)

Chan Stevens did a nice review over on EMRR. He did a good job of building the kit and had less than advertised results. This is a good read and is probably consistent with all of the SHR kits. I've built a few and the biggest thing they all have in common is too much weight.
