Has anyone here built and flown the A-10 glider that was featured in "Sport Rocketry" a few years ago?

It's on my to-do list but I haven't gotten around to building one myself.

My single channel (rudders) RC version never quite panned out. Both flight attempts had issues unrelated to the glider (hanging up on the launcher and a broken pod hook).

Itchy Richy from NARHAMS and MDRA fame has a big upscale that used BT-80 for the "jet" engines that has flown quite a lot.

You can get the original article and plan at:

IIRC , Martin Bowitz built one and flew it several times. Nothing wither of us could do could get it to glide properly.

kjThanks for that link! My copy of that issue of "Sport Rocketry" got a vase full of water tipped over on it and the magazine was ruined.

As I recall, the orientation of the engine tubes is critical. If they are evev slightly not straight, they play havoc on the stability. It's also better to be slighlty nose heavy.

Yeah, Richard flies that upscale at MDRA quite a bit. I've seen some good flights and some not so good flights from it. Usually boosts on F motors. I think the last flight he did couple weekends ago didn't end so well. Don't remember what the issue was. I think it's repairable.
